agentsview is a local-first, MIT-licensed Go application that discovers the session files your coding agents already write on disk, indexes them into a searchable local SQLite archive, and serves a web UI, CLI, and desktop app for browsing, analytics, and token-cost reporting across more than 60 agent formats.
agentsview’s premise is that your agents already write the telemetry; the missing piece was a tool that reads all of it in one place, locally, instead of each harness showing you only its own slice.
What it is #
A Go daemon that watches known per-agent session directories (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor, Zed, Windsurf, OpenCode, Qwen Code, Goose, Kiro, and more, more than 60 sources listed), parses their JSONL and database logs, and syncs them into a local SQLite database with FTS5 full-text search.
Surfaces: a web UI on loopback, a CLI (agentsview usage daily, session search, stats), a Tauri desktop app, Docker, plus optional PostgreSQL push for shared team dashboards, S3-backed session roots, and a DuckDB mirror.
Token-cost reporting uses a model-pricing catalog; an earlier version of the docs benchmarked reports at 84 to 223 times faster than re-parsing with ccusage (called an upper bound by the docs themselves), but the current docs have dropped that benchmark and now simply note ccusage covers the same core job.
Pure local file parsing: no cloud service, no accounts, no LLM calls required; an anonymous activity ping fires by default and can be disabled.
Made by Kenn Software LLC; install via curl script, Homebrew cask, desktop builds, or Docker.
Status #
Young and active: 6,094 stars, 664 forks, 112 open issues and PRs as of 2026-10-21, created 2026-02-19.
Latest release v0.46.1 on 2026-10-23, a day that shipped two releases: v0.46.0 added opt-in web-chat imports, Claude.ai chats synced through a Chrome extension plus ChatGPT, Codex web, and Codex cloud task chats ingested as searchable sessions, and v0.46.1 repaired Antigravity CLI transcript parsing on read-only mounts; with steady releases since July it is pre-1.0 with fast feature churn.
Strengths #
- Breadth is the product: one tool indexes every major agent’s sessions, where most alternatives are Claude-only.
- A pre-indexed store makes multi-month, multi-agent cost and history questions answerable in seconds instead of ad-hoc parsing.
- Serious team story: PostgreSQL push, machine-labeled filesystem sync, S3 roots, and versioned export schemas.
- Careful local-first hygiene: loopback binding, DNS-rebinding guards, auth for non-loopback exposure, and a documented trust model for untrusted session files.
Cautions #
- Pre-1.0 with breaking schema bumps (the docs’ token-usage page documents schema version 5 again, re-verified 2026-10-21, after documenting version 6 from 2026-10-10 through 2026-10-19, the sixth flip this section has recorded), so scripts consuming its output churn either way.
- Token coverage is opportunistic: cost rows appear only when a transcript contains both token counts and a priceable model, and the docs admit known undercounts such as Claude WebSearch side-calls.
- The 84-223x benchmark numbers the docs used to publish were vendor-supplied on vendor hardware, and their removal leaves no performance evidence in either direction.
- The daemon, serve, DuckDB, and PostgreSQL surface is real operational weight if all you wanted was a cost report.
Pricing #
Free and open source under MIT, no accounts, everything local. No paid tiers are published.
Compared to #
- ccusage: the zero-install, report-first comparator the docs themselves name; agentsview adds the pre-indexed archive, search, and the team push story.
- Built-in harness commands (Claude Code’s usage and cost views): zero-install and authoritative for the current session, but single-agent, single-machine, and history-free; choose agentsview for retrospective multi-agent analytics.
- simple10/agents-observe: a Claude Code plugin capturing live hook events for in-flight dashboards; choose it for what my agent is doing right now, agentsview for a passive index of everything already written.
- xintaofei/codeg: a full multi-agent workspace where aggregation is a byproduct of running agents inside it; choose agentsview when you keep your existing setups and want a read-only analytics layer.
Bottom line #
Recommended for engineers running three or more different coding agents who want one private place to answer what did my agents do and cost this month. Not for single-agent users well served by built-in cost views, or teams wanting live in-flight observability rather than retrospective indexing.
Changes #
- 2026-08-30 - Created in the new Session analytics category as a research note on the local session indexer.
- 2026-09-05 - Updated the supported-formats claim to 60-plus agent formats, up from roughly 55, including the matrix cell.
- 2026-09-08 - Revised prose, caution, and references after the docs dropped the 84-223x ccusage benchmark entirely.
- 2026-09-13 - The docs’ usage JSON contract now documents schema version 6 (provider-specific billing identity), so the schema caution moved from version 5 to 6.
- 2026-09-16 - Recorded the v0.43.0 release (new session formats including Tau, Evener v2, and Open Code Review, plus CJK full-text search) and refreshed repository counts.
- 2026-09-20 - Corrected the schema caution: the docs’ usage JSON contract is at schema version 5, with version 6 on the session-export schema.
- 2026-09-21 - The docs’ usage JSON contract moved to schema version 6 (provider-specific billing identity), so the schema caution now reads both contracts at version 6.
- 2026-09-25 - Recorded the v0.44.0 release (new formats including Cline CLI, Tencent CodeBuddy CN, Augure Code, Augure Desktop 3 beta, Charm Crush, and DeepSeek Harness v3) and refreshed repository counts; the schema caution re-verified unchanged at version 6.
- 2026-09-27 - Refreshed repository counts (5,988 to 6,001 stars, 157 to 189 open issues and PRs) and revised the schema caution: the token-usage docs document schema version 5 again, with no version 6 mention left anywhere on the docs site.
- 2026-10-05 - Added ccusage to Compared to as the report-first comparator the docs name, and linked its new note at first mention; refreshed repository counts (6,044 to 6,055 stars, 151 to 138 open issues and PRs).
- 2026-10-06 - The docs’ token-usage page flipped back to schema version 6 (it carried version 5 from 2026-09-27 through 2026-10-05), so the schema caution now records the third flip; refreshed repository counts (6,055 to 6,056 stars, 683 to 677 forks).
- 2026-10-07 - Added the kenn-io/agentsview star history chart to the Status section.
- 2026-10-07 - The docs’ token-usage page flipped back to schema version 5 (it had documented version 6 on 2026-10-06), the fourth flip this section has recorded; the schema caution and the matrix’s schema sentence moved with it, and repository counts refreshed (6,056 to 6,065 stars, 677 to 679 forks).
- 2026-10-10 - Recorded the v0.45.0 release (2026-10-09): Junie CLI, OMO, and StepCode session formats, Antigravity plaintext-transcript reads without a decryption key, dashboard git and pull-request stats, and the Usage page’s input card relabeled to Total Input with cache reads folded in; the docs’ token-usage JSON contract flipped back to schema version 6 (the fifth recorded flip), and repository counts refreshed (6,065 to 6,093 stars).
- 2026-10-19 - Rotation re-verification: every cited URL re-fetched and live, no release after v0.45.0 with main-branch fixes landing unreleased, the schema caution re-verified unchanged at version 6, and repository counts refreshed (forks 689 to 699, open issues and PRs 164 to 107).
- 2026-10-21 - The docs’ token-usage page flipped back to schema version 5 (it documented version 6 from 2026-10-10 through 2026-10-19, and also names version 2 as the origin of the cost_source enum), the sixth recorded flip; no release after v0.45.0 with unreleased main-branch work continuing (a gptme parser emitting provider-reported exact-cost usage events), and repository counts refreshed (forks 699 to 664, open issues and PRs 107 to 112).
- 2026-10-23 - Recorded v0.46.0 and v0.46.1 (both 2026-10-23): opt-in web-chat imports joined the sources, Claude.ai chats sync through a Chrome extension and ChatGPT, Codex web, and Codex cloud task chats ingest as searchable sessions, and Antigravity CLI transcript parsing recovered on read-only mounts.
